I’ve had my ultra 2 since Christmas. I’ve added the $10/mo plan to my att account. This watch is phenomenal. I left my phone home for about 8-9 hours, took a couple calls, texted a lot, and only used 12% battery. That’s insane. This thing is a keeper. It’s nice leaving without a phone in your pocket. Don’t have to hold the watch to use it. Texting on it is fantastic with the big screen. I can watch videos in the messages app that friends and family send me. I can copy paste pics and stuff. It’s very freeing leaving with just my watch.
doesn't work with CarPlay though

True, but it's actually more functional. I have a BMW w/CarPlay and a Tesla without.

Just using my Apple Watch, I can get into the car, start it, and drive away. No key, no phone required. I make a quick stop into Trader Joe's or the grocery store, pay with the watch. Very liberating to not need keys/phone to do simple tasks.

@OP Buy a 10,000 mah portable MagSafe charger. Dunno about the Ultra, but the sales blurbs advertise 8-10 full charges. Or, you know - a USB-c > MagSafe charger.

I thought that the battery life would be limiting for me, but since I am on medical retirement and my life consists of either playing video games at home or travelling to/from dialysis, I find the battery life not limiting at all. I've got always on display and the screen set to the minimum brightness.

I'm pushing close to 2 days with the following complications;

1) weather conditions from Carrot
2) Overcast for podcasts
3) Cell phone for, uh cell phone
4) Apple Music
5) Calendar
6) Battery level
7) Sunrise/sunset
8) Just Press Record (primarily so I can record and have any detailed instructions by the dialysis doctors/nurses/dietitians/Pharamacist transcribed and sitting on my Macs when I get home)

The World Women's Curling championships are in my province and they go for 10 days. With my watch fully charged and a portable charger that would do me for 10 days easy.

If The AW 10 releases with a larger capacity battery/faster cpu, etc I'll probably buy it and give my S9 to my sister (which is kinda messed up b/c she has no Mac so I have to get her a MacBook as well)

Tom

by the way, I like the water pic you show. It gives me confidence. I know my usage case isn't the statistical norm; but 2 days will do me and I'll still upgrade in the fall.

I have the Ultra 1. It can do a weekend away, but it's touch and go, depending on activities. I'd really like a weekend away regardless of activities. It's close. Friday evening to Sunday evening is what I'm referring to. It's at the point where I don't need to be concerned about battery life day to day, but there's room for improvement.

Apparently some people are getting 3-5 days with the Ultra 2, which is pretty amazing.
Yes I made a post previous. I was away from my phone for about 8-9 hours and I had only lost 12%. Granted all I have my watch do is call/text notifications. I don’t track workouts. No gps. So I feel a full day estimated at about 9am-9pm I think I’d lose about 25-30%, I’m estimating more. That’s insane for me. The added advantage is this watch charges very fast. I could live life with just this watch if I didn’t need to pay bills, Venmo/zelle people here and there, gps for work, and a couple other things I like to do on my phone.
