So basically, I had my Note 2 replaced under warranty because on occasion the sound would stop working until I rebooted it, and in some cases instead of no sound it'd just make crazy weird sounds.

Now this note 2, using the same battery & backplate, does the same thing! I haven't rooted it and it's still running stock firmware, so I'm not really sure what to say. Just thought I'd share a video of it:

I have also had a few probs with the phone freezing, touch responses not opening apps. I've gone to the device center that at&t has all they did was a reset but those problems have still come back so I'm gonna go back and see if they will replace my device

just factory reset your phone (use the 3-buttons mode). don't install any stuff. If it still happens then it is most likely hardware issue.

I've never had an issue with any phone I've ever owned. I hope to purchase a Note or Note 2 soon to try out the Android experience.

Its great, im an apple guy and i switched over to try it out and its not the laggy, crashy and charge your phone 3 times a day experience that some of the apple forums say it is.

Awesome, I'm excited to try one out. Just not eligible for an upgrade yet, so I'm debating to either spend $300 on a Note or $500+ on a Note 2.

I'm the same and echo your sentiments. Must admit I am pleasantly surprised. :)

    Closed for clean-up.

Edit: Ok, open again. Carry on, but please stay on-topic. Comparisons between this phone and the iPhone belong in other threads.

What is the warranty replacement process like for Samsung phones? Obviously there are no Genius Bar equivalents out there, so is mailing it in the only option? How long of a process is it? Do you have to go phoneless (ie do you have to send in your phone before a replacement is shipped) for any length of time? Do US carriers still handle warranty replacements? I know they did back in the day, but I've had nothing but iPhones for the last three years or so and the cell phone market has changed greatly during that time.

I must admit that IMHO, this is where Apple far outshines Samsung (In the UK at least) I had a small problem with my S3 that was easily rectified in store, but the staff at 02 (UK carrier) left me in no doubt, that although they sold me the phone they were not responsible for the warranty.

For most carriers in the US, you call them and they will troubleshoot the issue for you. If it can't be fixed, they will ship you a "refurb" device and you get a return label for your device to ship back to them.

Make sure your phone isn't damaged though. They will charge you the full retail price.
