As usual I used this old intel iMac for streaming music. I always put to sleep the screen. Suddenly I cannot wake up the screen but the music still playing.

I turn off the main power and see , the screen actually show the Apple logo and loading but later back to black out.

Without any details regarding your iMac model, it's likely failed GPU or backlight. Take flashlight and shine onto display, can you see image of desktop? Otherwise, it's the GPU. Again, w/out any details of iMac model, it's really tough to give advice.

Sorry for as I never input much details. This is Weird. Lucky my old intel seem working back. I turn off the main power again it seem back to normal. I feel is this old intel getting slow in the sense slow to wake up. Perhaps just now it seem cannot wake up respond.

I never update to latest OSX because I know once install it will be worst. One thing I noticed now the turn up chime seem gone weird..

OMG ... So what wrong? I test again it cannot wake up the screen whereas I still can listen the streaming radio. I always turn off the screen and it only play streaming music. Now is the screen cannot display out. Sorry for my poor written english hope you guys know what I mean.

crazy the screen is back , ok here the model

iMac late 2015
3.1 intel core 15
memory 8GB
Graphic intel iris pro graphics 6200 1536 MB.

Ok here the problem, all along I used this old iMac just to listen for radio streaming sometimes watch Youtube videos or see movie.

all along I will short cut shift control to shut down the display will listening to the music. I always able to wake up the display by pressing any keys on the keyboard. Just happen just now it cannot wake up.

I turn off the main no choice , cannot see the Apple logo while it start up but I can heard the chim alert. I turn off the main again and again finally now able to see the screen.

I test again , do the usual stuffs on this old iMac go to google chrome browser go to the radio station and stream the music. and put the display to sleep. Within just few secs I able to wake up the display. I noticed after 10mins onward I cannot wake up the Display but still can listen the music.

I even try to use the safari browser test partly the google chrome is out dated. I on MAC OS HIGH Sierra.

I wonder is it I go update the OS will work?

As usual with any computer issue, HAVE YOU REBOOT YET? In this case though I want you to do a DEEP REBOOT, reset the PRAM or whatever is it called in the Mac world, reset the bios, and see if that does anything.

If the above doesn't fix it, am I optimistic that you have a system backup somewhere you can restore?

If still dark, perform the flashlight test. Shine a flashlight on the dark screen, if you see image but still dark, that means your backlit is failing, u can further confirm this by hooking up an external monitor to it.

The screen is actually ok. Just that now whenever I wake up the display while listen to my radio stream. The screen don't wake up as usual but the music still playing behind.

So this means the screen is Ok. Just that the issue is come wakeup the display....
