is preordering the M2 Air. Despite ordering at 8am sharp, I received an obviously preordained delivery week of Aug 1-8 for my config. The Apple Store had my config for order and pick up today but it's two hours away and I had unchangeable plans. My mistake and I learned from it.

I don't think I can order a second one with my student discount without cancelling the first one. The interim between my canceling the first one and ordering the second one was just too risky.

I was able to preorder two M2 MBA with education discount with my Apple ID on 7.8.22 8am. Both canceled now.
When I tried to place another order for in-store pick up using an education discount on the same Apple ID, the order would not go through no matter how many times I tried. Sooooo I ended up using a different email, checked out as a guest, and was able to place the order.

I've seen quite a few people overly fixated on the time they put their pre-orders in, only to be disappointed that they weren't receiving their orders early. You need to keep in mind that you & probably a few hundred thousand others ALL ordered right when pre-orders went live. All that does is guarantee that you get one, it doesn't guarantee the delivery date. I'm assuming you had a custom order as well, which also pushes out the date. Depending on the build you got, it would be early August no matter what, because they only had certain pre-made builds on hand immediately.
So I did this thing.. I preordered, with the standard student educational offer, the midnight 8/16gb ram/1tb blazingly fast, so fast that I didn’t double checked the keyboard language. Mine was suppose to have Norwegian keyboard, but for some reason it was US. I had delivery date august 5-12.
I realized this a few days later and immediately canceled the preorder. Felt like an idiot. Was about to order again with Norwegian keyboard this time, but the Apple Store/education site was down. Then I found out that the educational back to school deal was about to hit Europe. Well, I guess I’m in luck after all. Waited a day or so and boom, the back to school offer was up!
Ordered the midnight 8/16/512 version this time (let’s hope that I’ll do fine with 512, I very much think so) and now I’ll grab that Apple gift card as well. Delivery date is August 11-19. School starts August 17.
