I can't tell that it's thicker but is can sense the slight weight gain. Doesn't bother me though.

Maybe that was more my conception than thickness. It felt a tad heavier so knowing it was so ever so much thicker maybe the weight gave me the feeling.

I noticed the weight increase and same old sRGB gamut within 30 seconds of unboxing my rMini. Neither is a deal breaker, although I personally would have preferred a full sRGB gamut.

I can see how someone would perceive increased thickness due to the weight increase. There is a density to the rMini that makes it feel thicker in the hand. The effect is particularly noticeable when you've used a Wi-Fi only model and switched to an LTE rMini, which adds the weight of the cellular radio.

I still like the rMini, and will use it when I travel by air (no pun intended). I'll use the Air most of the time though. To me it feels better in the hand, and the color gamut is better, which I want due to editing photos being one of my primary use cases.

I was worried when I bought the Air that I might want the rMini instead, but I had a similar experience. Walked in the store, picked it up.. and it really felt like something was missing. Yes, the text was sharp and clear, but also tiny and I had to hold it closer to my face to see it (I'm only 24 with good vision lol). Hate how small the text is under the app icons. Played around with various apps such as the browser, and noticed how much smaller the tabs look .. just not for me.

Very happy with my regular sized iPad. Also I think it is much better for sharing content with friends in the same room as you. Whereas the mini is more of a personal device, in which case I have my iPhone 5 for that.

it's amazing what people will do and say to justify their purchase of something. buy something with your own money and you're a permanent lifetime fan and supporter of it over another product.

I'm sure you would not noticed the difference in weight and thickness if you didn't knew about it beforehand

You have a very valid reason to care about the gamut. Most other people, not so much, and even as you said, not a deal breaker. Love my rMini.
