I've noticed that too. I think it's only found in Settings > Phone > My Number

Ok, so it can be found as a work around. No way of having it the easy way, as before?

Thanks. Noticed it is not possible to copy it there?

Isn’t the number baked in by the sim and carrier?
Do not know what you mean. Here is a used case. Somebody is asking me to send my phone number. I am travelling a lot around the world and sometimes I am using sifferent sim cards. So i was able to go to contacts and mu number was at the very top of the screen under my contact. It was easy to copy and paste. Today with iOS 12 I do not know how to do it

I have no clue what you are talking about. If I click on contacts and at the top is says my card. I click it and my phone number is right there for me to copy.

In the past you would not need to go to vcard, the nimber was right there. One extra step

Open Contacts. At the very top is YOUR name and under that "My Card". Tap on that and it opens YOUR CONTACT information. You can copy your phone number from there, or scroll down and select "Share Contact" to share via AirDrop, Messages, Mail or other methods defined to your share sheet.

Open your contact card, select iPhone and copy. Not as convenient, but it works.

This change is why I actually downgraded back to iOS 11 while I still had the chance a few weeks ago.

When I swapped sim cards, it didn't show the phone number of the new sim card until about an hour later and it showed up as Siri found in settings or something like that. I had to tap on add to contact to get it to show the new sim card number.

Has anyone found a workaround?

I have to put new SIM cards into my phone from time to time, and I can’t seem to find a way to show the phone number of the SIM card in my phone anywhere.

In the past the number was shown at the very top in contacts.

Can the phone number of a SIM card be shown in settings somewhere?

Thank you.

When typing a message or email, and I type my cell number is, my cell number comes up as a keyboard shortcut. Also does it when I type my office number is . . . .

Also the phone number is listed in settings under phone. It's right at the top just like it used to be at the top under contacts.

Settings > Phone (which is basically a fairly logical place to have it)

Yeah, for some unknown reason Apple removed the ability to lookup your own phone number in iOS 12.x using both the Phone->Contacts shortcut and the Settings->Phone->MyNumber option. I think some on this thread are talking about a situation where you have your permanent phone number programmed into your Contacts card. Obviously that would be easy to look up and is intuitive to the phone’s owner.

The situation the original poster is talking about is where someone travels to another country and purchases a temporary SIM in order to have local phone/data service for a week, etc. If you did that every time you traveled, you’d eventually have a lengthy vCard with all sorts of useless/expired phone numbers after a while.

I recently ran into this during my holiday travel and had to have the original paperwork from the foreign SIM vendor to find my number: obnoxious. You can do better Apple.

Happy New Year 2019!

I change Sim cards frequently and whatever number is associated with the Sim I am currently using is always displayed under settings/phone.

SOLVED SOLVED

I just had same experience after swapping sim cards for a phone test, and now back to original sim and the My Number contact at the top of the contacts list is gone.

I am using ios 12..1.4(16D57) on iphone 6s

Go to settings, scroll down to phone, select My Number tab at top of page and enter your mobile number, then save. Now the MY Number "may" appear at top of your contacts. I say "may" as I though it was there, then I tested if i can edit it again to put any number in, so i did the exercise again and back spaced and changed a couple of digits, then saved. Sure enough the number was changed, but gone from the Contacts list?
So I tried to edit again to change it to the correct number. It now allows me to type in a new number but NOT SAVE IT! Backing out of settings shows the wrong number still there and no entry in Contacts.
Blind Freddy and his guide dog could design a better user friendly system than Apple twits. They can't even get the simple stuff right! My hate for apple just went up a few notches.
SO ENTER THE CORRECT MY NUMBER IN SETTINGS ONLY ONCE.

CORRECTION - the above problem functionality occured because the phone had no internet access. Once connected, I was able to edit the MY Number entry and save it. Also by closing and re-opening contacts, a MY CARD entry was at the top of the contacts list that included my phones number etc.

Seems like that's something different from what this thread is about.
