I have a white 17" iMac intel C2D whose power supply died 🙁 it's the 2.0GHz model.

On ebay (in the european zone, I don't want to pay huge shipping fees) the only replacement I see is the power supply from a 17" intel 1.83GHz. It doesn't say if that comes from a C2D or CD, I asked the vendor about compability but he doesn't know...

So, could I use that to replace the faulty power supply or do I have to wait to the exact one to appear?😕

Thanks in advance

I doubt they are the same...different GPU, larger screen etc.etc. I'd search Apples' knowledge base and get the part number for your PSU....then you can look for the right one.

Check the capacitors for bulging, I had a 20" iMac of the same vintage with a failed power supply. I found a company on-line that sold the capacitors as a kit, there were about 11 of them and had a friend of mine swap them out. It worked for years with the repaired power supply after that...
