My printer is crashing my programs

I just bought a Lexmark 1300 color printer. A very basic printer.

I installed the software, printed the sample page and thought everything was fine.

When I try to use microsoft word and hit print it crashes the program.

I tried to print an email and it crashed and gave me error message......"IJ Print quality plug-in". No clue what that means.

Help!

Maybe downloading the latest drivers for the printer from Lexmarks site and installing them might cure the problem......
