Re: My professor brought up Mac Vs. PC in class

I couldn't believe my ears. Of course, this guy is easily 50-60 years old, so maybe he has the experience to speak about this, just maybe 🙂

Of course, he then said the standard line that "those who have used Macs have always said that it is the best most superior operating system".

My class deals with history, technology, and the way society has been influenced by technology by the way...

Hehe, here's the kicker. He "switched" back to PCs. I'm like wtf? After giving a line like that? Well anyway, class adjourned after that "food for thought", so I guess i'll ask him next time.

I am not sure of your instructors experiences with Win and Mac. I felt the same way getting XP up and running the first time. I felt that MS had finally caught up to Mac (my last experience up till then was with System 8).

Until I got to OS X. At least until i got to installing the Epson CX6400 and 200 printers. I wish that simply plugging in would be enough after the drivers.

Most everything else was flawless...

My most recent virus experience was while installing WinXP for my parents. After the install, I went to Microsoft's site to download the 17 critical patches (why the hell does a newly installed OS need that many critical patches?!?).

Maybe it needs that many patches because thats how many critical updates have been issued after the disc you used was manufactured. Just because you do a fresh install doesn't mean you have the most recent version of the OS.

Epson and Mac OS X haven't worked quite seamlessly recently. I have a CX5200 and a SC900. There have been a tonne of little updates for both, but they're both great now.

Hope you're getting USB 2.0 speed from your CX6400.

Words of wisdom

pc vs mac thing

Belonging to a Graphics organization (IAPHC to be exact) the schools in my area have nothing but MACs I was really jealous when I visited one of the local colleges and saw all the brand new 19" yes 19" monitors hooked up to the just as new G4s. I have to this day never seen or found a 19" Apple (gray) monitor new or used. Anyway back to this:
1: When windows was release we decided the only good thing about the trash can was to dump the OS into it!
2: I still can't understand why you push the "Start" button to shut down?
3: Most Commercials featuring PCs are created on MACs.
4: Every time someone told me how cheap PCs were I asked to match mb for mb and RAM for RAM when a comparable machine was found it costs the same!!
OK I'm done, just wish I could find the reply to the Bill Gates slaming GM thing.

I'm looking for a sixth form/collage to go to I've been accepted into one that has a few macs but there ICT cource is intirely pc based (microsoftology) anyone know a collage/sixth form in london that offeres a ICT corce that is unix based? because all the ones ive seen use 100% windows.

The head of IT at my school said "the reason that we dont have macs is because they dont network"

total bull***t

Man, that sucks...maybe you gotta get a petition or something for things to change? I'm just lucky i'm in the US where Apple Stores are abound 🙂 Good luck talking with the IT guy.
