Recommendation for upgrading to iOS 27
While we do know that iOS 27 is on the line, and it’s expected as a Snow-Leopard styled release, it would likely drop support for some devices that support iOS 26 and the initial 27.0 release may not get along well with the oldest devices that do. My recommendation for upgrading for models that support iOS 26:
Models that support iOS 26 but rumored that they do not support iOS 27
If you have one of these models, unfortunately, you cannot upgrade.
Hold off on Upgrading (for now)
While they do support iOS 27, they are the oldest models compatible, and you should be careful when your device supports a new major version of iOS and the system-on-chip is the minimum requirement or just one generation newer, as the initial .0 release may crash on those devices, so wait until the .1 or .2 release.
Your choice - If you choose to upgrade on .0 release, do so with caution and back up your iPhone
If you have one of these models, these are much better optimized for iOS 27, but you might still want to wait, as .0 can still lag your iPhone. If you do choose to upgrade, proceed with caution and back up your iPhone.
Models that ship with iOS 27 already - no upgrade needed
If you have one of these models, you don’t need to worry - your iPhone will automatically be on iOS 27 on day one.
