I have a 7s plus phone. Ever since the updates from a few months ago, my ringtone (which was downloaded on itunes and previously played without a problem) no longer plays on my iphone. In the settings it is set to that specific song, but whenever someone calls, the apple default tone plays. It is driving me nuts.

I tried searching for ways to fix it, and I tried restarting the phone multiple times, downloading all the latest updates, etc. Still not working.

Anyone know what to do?

What version ios are you running and which iTunes are you using?

There were prior issues which were addressed in the past updates of both software.

You might want to check.

I'm running the latest versions of both. The weird thing is, I made a new ringtone on itunes yesterday, and it worked on my phone. The original ringtone I bought from itunes doesn't play. It's weird.

This is a problem I’ve had with ringtones for years. Randomly not playing my selected tones and playing the default instead. I’ve never found a fix or reason.

This is still an issue as I to have been suffering with this problem for a very long time. Any ringtone downloaded from the app store works fine. Any ringtone manually added to itunes reverts the phones ringtone to the default. There is no need to check the contacts ringtone unless you set this for anything other than default. If set to default, the contact will use what ever ringtone you have set globally in settings.
