My screen share won't work

I have a mac mini, and my friend just bought a Macbook Pro. I want to show him what screen sharing is but it says connection cannot be established. Any ideas why?

Would the option to enable it be in ichat or under a system preference?

It's enabled/disabled from within the Sharing preferences pane in System Preferences. There aren't any settings in iChat which control screen sharing.
