I hear about the good camera on the SE, I have to say I have been pretty disappointed with mine. Don't get me wrong its OK but certainly not special. I have taken better photos with my old iPhone 6 if truth be told.

Here are a couple of examples

Low light yes but its horrible.

This was a close up but again horrible, could have been taken with a 5mp, no crispness or sharpness.

Now this was taken on my iPhone 6 back in September. While in the same location I took the below photo this morning on the SE.

Again looks kinda washed out.

Not sure what to make of this, any opinions?

I had an SE briefly and never felt that the photos were that great, I don't know why as otherwise it is a stellar device.

I don't have anything constructive to add, I just want to say that picture taken by the 6 back in September on the lake is absolutely stunning.

i find that the SE camera is slow to open at times. Sometimes a little slow, and sometimes quite slow.

Isn't it just, I walk down there most mornings, love taking photos down their at dawn.

The 12MP camera in the 6s and SE has smaller pixels in the sensor than the 8MP camera in the 6.

I remember Apple saying there were tweaks to the 12MP sensor elements to compensate, but some review websites gave the older camera an edge in low light conditions.

Incidentally guys, this is the same lake as above just down at the jetty, this was taken on an S7 I tried out. The difference in quality is clear.

I just think it's iPhone's in general.
The 7 are pretty decent camera's but in my opinion the Android competition is better every single time.
The colours are always way off with the iPhone. Some would say more true to life, which in some cases they are, but most of the time in my experience everything is just washed out.

Comparing to an S7 or a Pixel really shows the iPhone up.

I'd never use a cellphone to take photos of any event.

The quality is equally hideous on all these devices.

You guys are splitting hairs with rock bottom expectations.

Interesting @ the SE/6s comparison shots. I would have assumed that they would have reused the image sensors from the 6s in the SE since those parts were already available.

Looks like the processing is a bit different in each but the quality is pretty comparable. The tree photo is a bit different but that could be due to where the exposure box is in the photo!

That's your prerogative.

However, You are Living in mobile world were not everybody carries a DSLR camera with them for obvious reasons. And from what I've seen, the iPhone takes fairly impressive photos pending various conditions and lighting. Perhaps not the case for the OP and his iPhone SE, but nonetheless, what technology can do today with cameras on iPhones, it's fairly impressive to say the least.

There are quite a few threads on here that show the photos of what an iPhone can take for photos, most of which have improved greatly over the years and it's only moving forward. No, I am not a photo aficionado, but I know enough to know the iPhone has axed the point and shoot camera.

Good photos taken with phones are due to incredible skill of the photographer.

In not-perfect lighting the image quality is equally atrocious on all phone cameras.

Look at the images in this thread ...
you guys are comparing one blurry, noisy mess with the other.

But that's completely ignoring the fact that virtually no-one lugs a DSLR around with them; and the fact that nearly everyone owns a smartphone with cameras that are good enough.
