I'd be concerned about where this black grease was coming from or why it was on the computer in the first place. The next thing you know you will ripping a DVD and your computer will start blowing oil out the rear ports.😀

I do wonder if they are reselling refurb mac pros as new. I have not seen any of the new mac pros on the refurb page of the apple site, yet there must of been quite a few that have been sent back for various problems.

the grease like stuff is from the rubber, my macpro and every other macrpo ive ever seen, used or opened has them from the side casing door.

it does easily smudge off too 🙄

Just an FYI... but over in the UK, the machine i ordered (octo 2.8, wifi, 8800, 500gb) is a $4000 rig... not 3k 😉

The price of living in a place with this glorious weather...

Uhm....

here here, and mine, despite being only $5500 in the us basic store, cost me over $6k with a student discount! whats more, for normal folk what would have cost $5500 in the US costs $7500 in the UK. Disgraceful🙄

I guess I am old shoe... My dad was in business for himself...heating/air conditioning (until it was called HVAC!!!). He was all about service to his customers and built a wide customer base over his 79 years on this earth. If his customer was not satisfied, he would not quit until they were. Why do we accept anything less.

If you received a product that was not up to your specs, you have every right to ask for a replacement. After all, you are the consumer! AND, it is your money! It is a fair expectation to receive a new product that was advertised as new!!!

I, too, am happy you have found a solution to your situation.
