My Spotlight is as dumb as ever

So apparently Spotlight was supposed to get more intelligent, right? Not mine. Am I doing something fundamentally wrong?

I think its just not enabled yet. And I would guess this feature will be only enabled in the US for the first time. However, stuff like 'mails from yesterday' does work.

From what I can tell, it's only working with American cities. Also, if I just type "weather", it's supposed to show my current location, which it is, but instead of displaying "Homewood, AL", it shows "Homewood, AK". How does that even happen? I thought this just pulled stuff straight from a Weather Channel API.

Your Mac might be misinterperting your location and sending it to the Weather Channel.

I don't think it is. It's showing the correct weather for Homewood, AL, and the same info as the Today widget in the NC, my iPhone, and weather.com for Homewood, AL, except with "AK" instead of "AL". I don't think there's a place called Homewood in Arkansas anyway.

AK is Alaska, AR is Arkansas.

Haha, thats right! Weather works for me too, but the results are in french. Its quite hilarious.

Weather doesn't work at all for me (even Paris). UK account & iMac set as UK but based in Prague. Generally I find Spotlight isn't doing many of the things it should be doing. No Bing/Wikipedia searches etc, it only ever seems to search locally.
