Hi, I know this is another "well this is my story" threads, but I just couldn't resist because I am so excited!:D

Ok so here's the deal. I ordered a refurbished MacBook Pro (specs in my sig) from Apple's website. When it got here, I found out it was a late 2008 model and all was fine except 2/3 of the screen sometimes only worked for a second or two. Of course I made a genius bar appointment and when I got there, the guy said, "Well this is to new of a computer to be failing. As you probably know, this is a 2008 model and we don't make it anymore, so I'll just order you a brand new one." I nearly passed out in front of the guy! So now instead of getting the one in my sig repaired, I get a brand new:

15" MacBook Pro
2.4 GHz Intel i5 Processor
4 GB of DDR3 RAM

I am so excited!!!!!!!!!!

Good for you!!!

wow nice i should start purchasing refurb items in hope for a dysfunction. I could use a 15" MBP for that price right about now D:...

Yes, I am very excited!!!:D I have been reading about the overheating issues and some other stuff, do I need to watch out for any of that?

Yes, you should definitely watch out for several problems including overheating, screen yellowing, freezing and all sorts of bad things.......As Long As You Remain on Mac Rumors.:D

Now, if you stay off MR long enough make sure and watch out for the enjoyment that you will get from your MBP with little to NO problems. :)

that's awesome! I've only had to deal with Apple support once, when I bought my 24" iMac. There was one stuck pixel in the middle of the screen. They replaced the Mac, no questions asked.

Of course, for every positive story on here there seems to be three negative stories. But that's to be expected on a forum such as this.

Man, am I just unlucky or KyleKlink is the lucky one?
I had my MBP 13" 2009.
A on my 20th day, I noticed that the trackpad didn't work at all.
I brought it to apple store, and the guy said I had to ship it to another apple store in nearby states because they don't have any 2009 models.
I waited one month to get mine back. Plus, I had to pay the repair fee. They said the computer had to be under 14 days for free repair.

That makes no sense. It's 14 days for a return. Did you void your warranty somehow (spills etc)? Because Warranty usually lasts one year.

UPDATE: I got the replacement about a week ago and it was great! Here is the problem: whenever I start using it for a while and it gets warmer, it starts making this REALLY annoying ticking sound, I attached it. So here comes either another replacement or repair. If I keep recieving bad ones, do they offer you an "upgrade of your choice?" I mean like maybe the top of the line 15" (mine is the base 15") or some more ram or something?

They don't offer you an upgrade of your choice; they do offer refunds… but in your case, you'd get $1200, not the full price of the machine ;)

Hey Connor, I'd take the clip down and remove my name from it if I were you.
That click is pretty annoying, one of the tech-minded guys round here should know what it is but I'm guessing it's something to do with the HD parking mechanism.
