What a good way to start my first post on this forum :p
Here are my top 5:

1. FotoMagico
2. iWork
3. Adium
4. Adobe CS4
5. Aperture

Here are the seven apps I use everyday in alphabetical order.

  • 1Password: password manager + automatic form filler.
  • Dropbox: cloud-based storage. Also helps to sync multiple macs.
  • iChat: instant messenging. All of my IM friends use AIM/Google so this works well for me.
  • iTunes: media player/store.
  • Mail: e-mail.
  • Microsoft Office: office suite. I have iWork but haven't been able to successfully make the switch. I'll try again in the new year.
  • Safari: web browser.

1. XCode w/ iPhone SDK
2. Maya
3. ZBrush
4. Unity 3D
5. Corel Painter X
6. Photoshop
7. Rapidweaver

Ok so its seven instead of 5 but those are my top :D

If these are your top 5 applications, then I have to understand that you are not doing much with your computer except for chatting on the Internet and watching ripped movies, is that correct?

Not Really no, i have a social life and like to talk to my friends.
As i said, These are what i think. You don't have to like them if you don't furrrk off my threadd.

limewire (music)
adium (chat)
quicksilver (application launcher)
seashore (photoshop alternative)
textedit (word processing)

Things
iCal
Lightroom
Socialite
1Password
MacGourmet
Dropbox

I can count, but I couldn't come up with just 5. All of these I use every day and would hate to lose. As far as a browser, I actually prefer Google Chrome. I haven't had ANY crashing issues with it. It doesn't beachball like Safari and it's way faster than Firefox. The only thing I miss is integration with 1Password.

Great minds think alike. (although I don't use Boxer specifically, just DOSBox)

Since I don't do any thing very specific, my 5 are obvious:

Firefox
Adium
iTunes
Tweetie
iStat Menus

I also use Terminal for fun and profit and Activity Monitor so I can't sleep at night.

Chrome is mad fast but it's preferences menu is grayed-out as hell with little options, so it's not very flexible especially when it comes to privacy.

quick question--can you customize chrome like firefox?

1. Firefox
2. Handbrake
3. uTorrent
4. VLC
5. Evernote
6. Dropbox
7. BusyCal
8. Parallels 5 (if that counts)
9. iPhoto Library Manager

I swear on everything that is all that is installed on my MBP (aside for the iLife suite that comes with it). Those programs only take up 1GB of space at most.

I’ll list those that I use for work every day.

1. Safari/Firefox

2. Nisus Writer Pro

3. Notebook (from Circus Ponies)

4. Accordance

5. Bookends

6. Scrivener

7. Adobe CS4 Premier Collection (Acrobat Pro, Bridge, Device Central, Dreamweaver, Drive, Fireworks, Flash, Illustrator, InDesign, Media Player, Photoshop)

I'd stay within the top 5, but I really cant :p. I use these on a daily basis or at least weekly, unlike some other apps that I'll probably only use once a month.

1. Quicksilver (helped to cleaned up my dock)
2. Chrome (Yes, like others have posted in other threads, I have found it to be quite faster for me than Firefox and Safari.)
3. iWork
4. iChat
5. uTorrent
6. Handbrake
7. VLC/Perian (dunno if I should've separated them or not, but they pretty much do the same)
8. iTunes + Bowtie

1. Safari

2. Yahoo messenger (gotta stay connected ha)

3. Guitar Rig 3

4.iTunes

5. Finder (everybody seems forget the big guy with the smile)

is there anything like app zapper or app cleaner that can find the files that can be removed after you have already removed the program. Ive done plenty of uninstalling before i heard of this and now want to rid my computer of the hidden files.

AppCleaner is awesome and it's free.
