its jittery, jumpy and just super finicky, sometimes just stops working

it is about 5+ years old, had in storage and just broke it out for my new mac mini

kind of driving me nuts, battery at 89%, cleaned the surface

the mini is about 2 feet to the left, on the same surface and there is no interference that i can suss out nearby

i have been thinking about getting the new trackpad, is it a better performer ?

do not want to have to use a mouse :(

I recently purchased the new Apple Magic Trackpad from Amazon when it was on sale. Although I'm generally a mouse guy, I have to admit the new Magic Trackpad is much better than those I have used in the past. There are still some uses of it, like playing shooter games, that it doesn't do as well as I would like, but overall you can't go wrong if you buy one. Be sure to keep your eye open for a sale though as the Apple price is too high in my opinion.

The current trackpad Apple sells is an excellent performer. It's the basically a wireless version of the same excellent trackpad they have on their laptops. With my Mac Pro I don't even use a standard mouse anymore.

The added bonus if I can use the trackpad with both my hands, whereas I can't use mouse with my left hand at all.

That said if you need absolute precision, a mouse will still be better. Though for something like Photoshop if I need precision I use a Wacom tablet.

The new wireless keyboards are also way better than before. The wedge shape seems to really feel planted whereas the old designs the keyboard and trackpads would sometimes slide around when you're using them.

I also like on the new design that if you choose you can use them as wired devices (the keyboard and trackpad will communicate with the computer via the Lightning cable when they are connected).

yeah, if there is a lot of signals or metal around and your pc isn’t too far away, you can just go wired and you should get less of the weird little hiccups that you get with trackpads sometimes

Is there an Apple Store near you? If so, why not visit and try out the latest Apple trackpad at the Store.
