I've been on the fence about the Apple Watch. I went to the Apple store in Shadyside, PA on Friday and decided to check out the watch for myself. The store was relatively slow for an Apple store and the guy took me over to the try on area right away without an appointment. I tried pretty much all of the bands except for the Classic Buckle. The Milanese Loop and Link Bracelet felt too heavy on my wrist. I tried both 38 and 42 MM sizes. The 42 felt too big the 38 looked better on my wrist. I'm also an "active" person and the Sport Band would fit my lifestyle better. I love the way it felt very high quality and it hugged my wrist well. The band is tiny I was worried it would be this big bulky thing. I also tried the SS version but I was worried about it getting scratched like the old iPods used to do as pretty as it is.

I pondered it for a bit and decided to order a 38MM Sport w/ the white band + Apple Care. I am very excited for it to arrive.

Good choice. I really like the look of the white band and the 38mm looks like a good size for you. I would have gotten the Sport instead of the SS if I had any patience to wait for it.

haha! Hey thanks for responding! I liked the look of the black and white band. I'm curious to see how well the white one holds up. I'm starting to get impatient while waiting but just a few more weeks!

I've been wearing my white band since the 24th and I've cleaned it a few times but it continues to look very good and white not dirty looking. Cleans up really well. Really gets dirtiest at the back where my wrist rests on things. I really like the white. I've bought some other bands but so far I haven't even opened the boxes.

I was strongly considering the SS model as well, and decided against it for the same reason you listed--the back of my iPod Classic is a mess and that's after being in a case at all times and being treated very carefully. I would hate for my Watch to look like that. I went with Space Grey Sport

I considered the white, but ended up going for the blue. I wish I could have tried it on. Hopefully I will like it!

I initially got the 42 sport with that white band because I thought $399 was my max and I didn't think SS or sapphire was a big enough deal to pay another $200. The 38 watches just looked too small, but honestly it's hard to know in a five-minute try-on session. Neither looked really bulky to me like some of the chunky watches I'm pretty sure I've had in the past.

I did end up going with the 42 SS. I thought the build quality would be better, which should help me when I find a job after I get my geology degree. I'm not buying a watch like this to not wear it just because I go outside digging and hammering at rocks and such. Plus when your tax refund is way bigger than you expected thanks to a credit for all that tuition you paid, you all of a sudden can justify the $600 one. I also wanted the option to get the leather loop or Milanese loop at a later date. The one I tried one was SS with a blue leather loop, and that looked sharp. The Milanese loop also looks sharp. Neither would match the Sport model, so I would go all AR about the slight variance.

You were smart to wait before a try-on to make your decision. I bought one as a reward for surviving a couple of tough classes and at the end of the semester getting our workload at work almost doubled because of major people departing. I've had to work OT a bit, so Imma get me a toy.

I think a lot more people will decide to get an Apple Watch as they get sold in stores, whether it's just Apple stores or whatever third-party outlets carry them. It's such a new thing that you really have to try them out. I wasn't totally convinced on the iPhone, iPad or MacBook Air until I played around a little at an Apple Store. I haven't gone wrong so far. That MacBook Air really helped me out during school when I had gone to an iMac four years ago thinking I wouldn't need a portable computer again. HA, that was a dumb statement.

Awesome! Good to know that the band holds up well! What other bands did you end up getting?

Nice to see another local here. Student?

I'm fairly local. I work in Monroeville but 99% of the time I'm working from home near plum. I do go to CCAC boyce. I just happen to find my self in Shadyside every now and then lol

Yeah the try on experience really helped me with my decision. If you ever get the chance to go and try them on I highly recommend it. If you don't like it you can always get another band!

That looks really great on you! White band is the best :)

Thank you! I think it looks great too!

Very nice! Enjoyed your story. You're going to really enjoy the watch.

Thanks for reading my story! I can't wait for it to arrive. Just a few more weeks!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who feels that way. It is a shame because the SS is just so pretty. Especially considering how expensive these watches are! I would hate to spend all that and have it look like poo after a few weeks.

I'm kind of the opposite. When it comes to the iPhone, iPad ect if I need a new one I order it no questions asked. However, this device is different for me. Me not being a watch person in any way shape or form I really had to justify the cost of the watch as I work from home so any device I need is at my disposal at any given time. Now I do go out and do things but the majority of my time is spent at home. If I still reported into work everyday then I may would have gone for the SS version even though I am kinda contradicting myself above lol! At work this would've been a great accessory to glance down at my wrist to make sure I am not missing any important notifications since our work place deals with sensitive patient data.

I agree I think they will sell more once they become readily available in June. I'm sure a lot of people want to walk in try it on and walk out with one. I would've liked to do that but sadly I can't. It is a big decision to make so many bands and size combos to try. Really hard to justify on a computer screen. However, I don't see this as a device Apple will be giving to it's re-sellers such as Best Buy, Staples, Walmart etc.
