With all the speculation of a new iMac dashed for the moment I am happier than ever I upgraded my machine! After selling my aging Macbook Pro, I installed it's former SSD into my iMac, modded the iMac with an eSata port myself for $5 bucks, bumped up the Ram to 32 gigs for $200.00, put a faster 2 TB 3.5 drive in, and then purchased a cheap returned 3M privacy screen which when flipped is a fantastic antiglare screen. To get the best result you also remove the iMacs glass screen cover, which makes the iMac about 10 lbs lighter as well. In my mind this is the new iMac until something better comes out! When the iMac came out I remember everyone screaming how you could not upgrade it...it's a little more dificult but can be done. If you can find a 2gig video card or an i7-880 cpu you could go even further, although that I won't be doing unless they can be had dirt cheap.
