In another case, a female co-worker was convinced by a Jiffy Lube "service advisor" that she must have her transmission fluid changed. It was never really determined what they did to it, but the transmission was ruined, and Ford (this was a ford explorer) would not cover it under warranty due to improperly performed work. This woman and her husband had to get a lawyer to get Jiffy Lube to pay for that one.
My ex back on 9/11/01, went to Just Tires for an oil change and tire rotation. Well the short of it was the grease monkey drained the transmission fluid instead. Realized his mistake, and changed the engine oil - but forgot to refill the transmission fluid. My ex got just a few yards, before the transmission acted up. In trying to make things right, another grease monkey dropped and shattered the transmission pan! <eek>
(An aside, he called to complain, and I told him that two jets had just crashed in to each of the WTC towers. He said to stop trying to make him feel better. He thought I was joking!).
