Thanks guys! I'm surprised how many responses i got - it musta touched a chord.

Thanks SuperBovine - yours was probably the best solution! :D (just kidding!)

Watching her tonight, I think she's just not patient with them - and when things don't work the way she expects/wants (and straight away), she gets frustrated.

She has her own Mac and her own login on it.

KingSleaze: Yeah - she did have problems with PCs too. I never worried about it then coz that's normal for PCs. I could sympathize. But I can't anymore.

And Skunk - you're right, i did believe that Macs would cure all her user-ability problems.

jsw - i'll try that background idea.

The limited access user idea is not something i want to pursue - read my post elsewhere on how much trouble limited access is.

I think I do suffer from the age old problem of the hardest person to teach something, is sometimes the person/people you're closest to.

Have your Mac setup with the login screen. At the login prompt type in >console. It will bring up a UNIX login. Just log her in and she will have the UNIX prompt. Problem solved. She will see how much more difficult the computer can be with the command line that she will understand the GUI and appreciate it.

:p hehe thats pretty extreme BornAgainMac

I don't understand the problem? everything in your first post isn't required for a beginner to learn with regards to computer use. You are just overcomplicating thing by even trying.

What you should do is backup all her data and try get her to deliberately attempt to create havoc and destroy her system, help remove the fear barrier by understanding that you need a pretty concerted effort to even get close to breaking the system. If she manages to send it to /dev/null then just do a system restore and its all good.
