iCloud My wife's ICLOUD email is gone!!!!

My wife just texted me to say that all of her inbox email (years) prior to last week has disappeared and that Apple is stumped!
 
Where is the mail missing: Mac, iPhone/iPad, other device? All?

And did you sign into the iCloud web page to see what's in Mail there?
 
Apple is running a restore of some type; I will update the thread.

Since she stopped working we haven't been backing up her drive as often.
