I have Airport on my Menu Bar.

I click on it while holding ALT/OPTION.

It will give you a few lines of info about your wifi connection.

Didn't there used to be a signal meter bar in the networking preferences? I miss that. What does the RSSI and transmit rating mean?

I've been having a bit of a problem with a new earlier model MBP. Upon wake from sleep, it doesn't connect to the network. It SEES the network, but will not connect.
