MyFitnessPal and Apple Watch steps

something strange with this setup.

Under home in MyFitnessPal it shows the correct steps, but if I hit exercise MyFitnessPal shows my steps being rather high and gives me a negative step calorie adjustment.

For example on the main screen of MyFitnessPal I have 14,882 steps which is what my Apple Watch shows, but under exercise it shows 15,879 steps with an adjustment of -26 calories.

Any idea on why this is happening? I have negative option turned on, on MyFitnessPal website.
