Just wondering, what is the best option for downloading MySQL?
I'm new to OS X, but my day job is Linux System Administration and my flavor is RHEL.
I'm used to simply "yum install" to install packages, and "yum update" when required.

If I am to install MySQL from the DMG file - how difficult is it to upgrade this?

I think I might be best to install from MacPorts, and simply execute a "port upgrade mysql" when a new version is released - but that begs the next question, is it possible to have MacPorts email you daily a list of packages that require updating, as yum-updated does on RHEL?

Hey,

I have installed from mysql.com and it works perfectly.
Or you can install MAMP, there also is MySQL included.
