So I got Nostalgic the other day and thought I would get Myst - but held back because it’s not apparent if it’s any good - anyone playing it? Any thoughts on the game itself? The Graphics etc...

That brings back memories as I haven't play Myst in ages and I think the last time I played Myst I was still using PCs. The graphics for its time was great and to be honest I don't remember the game play all that much. I don't think it was bad, but I think it was middle of the road when it came to game play. I might even check it out myself to see if it will jog my memory.

Which version you talking about? The original? If graphics are a concern they did do a remake a few years ago on modern platforms including Mac. It also works on VR. I did pick it up on my Quest 2 and spent time reading books in the library. Didn't make it too far as per usual though.

There's the original 1993 version which originally released for Mac and forms the basis of a lot of ports, e.g., PS1, PSP, DS, etc. There's a remake from 2000 called realMyst that upgrades the graphics and adds free walking (no more clicking through screens) and in 2020 they made another remake simply called Myst which further upgrades the graphics, is still free roaming and supports VR. That's the latest version.

Loved it back in the day and completed it without much annoyance other than the mine car section that became real tedious real quick. Sequels were far too obscure and seemed designed to sell how-to guides as much as they were the actual games, but there's always the possibility that I'm just too dumb.

Never finished it back in the day, but did it a couple of years ago. It was entertaining, but somewhat short for modern standards, and most puzzles were pretty easy.

Myth-Fallen Lords (Bungie) popped into my head an excellent RTS game, but wrong game and alas, it only exists as abandonware as far as I know. Ok, Myst, ground breaking at the time, the mysterious island puzzle fest, but I never finished it as it did not hold my interest. :(
