I got a notification from FedEx that a package from Apple is being shipped to me. The origination is from the Apple Superhub in Clayton IN. The package dimensions are 17x5x14" with a weight of 2 pounds. I have not ordered anything from Apple and there are no charges on my credit cards or my Apple Card. I cannot think of anything that requires a box of that size and only weighs 2 pounds.

Did FedEx make a mistake in notifying me about someone else's package?

Did Apple make a mistake in shipping a package?

FedEx is fairly good about matching my address to shipments and FedEx has my phone number for texting deliveries.

Any thoughts about what the package might contain?

Are you sure it's from FedEx?
Absolutely. I never click on links in emails, ever. I got the notification on the FedEx app, not an email, and checked the tracking number on the FedEx website. The tracking number comes back as legitimate.
If you didn’t order anything you aren’t getting anything.
That certainly makes sense and I agree.
I’ve got some magic beans for you though
I'll take them as trade for my pet unicorn.

It could be simply a mistake on FedEx' part. I've had tracking numbers appear on my USPS account several times through the years, but nothing ever appeared on my doorstep and the tracking numbers eventually disappeared from my account.

I agree that it’s a scam, too many of those these days.
That was my first thought. The FedEx information shows the origination from the Apple Superhub. All my information is correct on the FedEx website and the app, including my cell phone. The only way I can conceive of it being a scam is someone ordered something from Apple, will have it delivered to me, then try and extort me on the product actually delivered. Such as I get a cheap iPad, then whomever placed the order claims it was top-end MacBook Pro, mis-delivered, and demand that I pay for the top-end product. Or "Vito the Enforcer" will break my fingers. An interesting, but far fetched, scam if that is indeed the case.

Just klick the Link, fill out all the Data and wait for your Surprise from Äpple ....

Twer it that simple. There was no link. Just a message from the FedEx app and a real tracking number on the FedEx website.

The question becomes if something I did not order, is delivered to me, by name at my address, am I required to return the product. I know that applies to the US Postal Service. But does it apply to delivery services such as FedEx and UPS?

We had a brand new iPhone Pro delivered by FedEx at our warehouse a few years back. The warehouse manager asked me what to do with it and I said return to sender. About a week later it turned up again. The address wasn’t even for someone in our country on the paperwork. I told him to keep it.

Be sure not to pay any COD charges
Good point. I don't think Apple sends anything COD to individuals.

Another strange data point. I purchased a movie on Wednesday for $5.46. I have not seen the receipt Apple normally sends nor have I seen the charge on my Apple Card. I do have the movie in my library. I wonder if somewhere, somehow, Apple has managed to "cross thread" my account with another account.

FedEx has created the label, nothing has shipped. So maybe it will get corrected on Monday and I will receive nothing.

OK, mystery solved, sort of. Further examination of the shipping notification on the App for FedEx shows the label being created. That is the notification that I got on my phone. However, the label creation date is June 12. That is over two months in the past. Something hiccuped in the FedEx system as I never ordered anything from Apple on, or around, June 12. Strange.

I've had something similar happen. I got a notification saying a label had been created, but it didn't say who had created it. I could check the tracking status and it remained as "label created" for a week or so, and then the tracking record simply vanished.
