Mysterious White Bar Locks Up Phone

Just got my 5S and here we are two weeks later and heres a major glitch. This has happened 3 times so far. 2 times on a task fired by Calendars 5 and once from the stock messages app. Anybody else seeing this?

I called them and of course they want me to jump through flaming hoops with resets etc but I'm not going that route yet.😡
