Who cares? Most carriers permit tethering, and if you do it "illegally", they'll tack on a tethering plan and/or remove unlimited data plan if applicable.

I use tetherme on straight talk, which doesn't offer tethering. As long as you keep usage reasonable, you will be fine. I used to tether on my unlimited AT&T plan when I was with them as well. I'm breaking the TOS for sure, but I'm no abuser - for lack of a better word.

I've used PDANet and it works well. AT&T never bothered me with PDANet or TetherMe. The only one that AT&T has detected has been MyWi for me.

I would send intelliborn an email.

Like others, I only use MyWi occasionally, usually as an emergency when the house network goes down.

I do find it frustrating that the creators of MyWi have forced us to pay for upgrades. It is one thing to charge for upgrades for new features that we may WANT to take advantage, but I do not appreciate that they force us to upgrade when we HAVE to get the newest version. I know they have to spend time keeping it compatible, but so does every other developer in the App Store! Just my thoughts...that I did share with the developer BTW. Obviously, they have use by the...uh...short hairs!

No one is forcing you to upgrade your firmware or your phone model though.
You can still continue to use the old ios 5 version on your old JB iphone forever. The author didn't promise us updates, new iphone hardware compatibility and ios compatibility for life.
The $5 to use it on your new phone and with the new JB on the new IOS version is worth it IMO.
Or else authors can just abandon the old mywi name for example, create a new similar tethering solution with a new name and charge everyone full price.
Noone wants to work for free and comparing it with regural ios devs is not the same. There's billions of downloads on the appstore and way more money compared to cydia.
