Primarily a thread for the ladies, but not exclusively so.

I found that I was coming home from the salon unhappy more often than not. So I bought some doing powder and watched a few YouTube videos. I think I've gotten pretty good at doing my own nails, but now I'm ready to see what some others are doing, or having done.

Here's today's Mani.

I don't wear nail polish myself, but I will admit that I am most impressed by your creativity and handiwork.

Good idea! Start small and work your way up.

Unsure if it's the copious amount of caffeine I drink, or other factors, but I can never get my hands steady enough to create an ultimately smooth finish. o_O

Ergo I'll occasionally dap a quick coat on for odd occasions but anything important has me spending oodles of dollars at the salon. :(

That's why I switched to SNS (or any dipping powder). You cannot mess it up, and if you get a bump or lump, you just file it down.

What are the dark areas, little premade designs or just free style color? When I zoom in, the image is blurry.
No, I don't do my nails and my wife does the nail saloon. :)

Do you have Vietnamese Specialty nail places on every corner? That is a bit of an exaggeration. :) I’ve lived in 2 Metro areas where they seem to rule the retail space. :)

Nope, we've a few of the national chains littered in the various strip malls, a couple of one of's but my main hit is a local chain that do a great job, but are also the reason I can't afford other nice things like a 5K monitor :D

I paint my fiancee nails, usually her toes as she has back problems.

Not yet attempted nail art but I used to be pretty good with a pencil and paper.
She want me have a go at nail art on her toes.

I'm happy paint her toes but not so sure on nail art though.

You know, that seeping cold sensation that goes under the nail when you put polish on is really obnoxiously uncomfortable. Perhaps I just don’t do it enough to ignore it.

I just paint my toenails. I like seeing pale summery colors on them when my feet hit what feels like a 45ºF floor getting out of bed on wintry mornings. Once I'm out of the shower and my feet are clad in socks and boots, though, the effort to have cute toes can seem silly in retrospect.

Foil. Just random foil. It's difficult to do anything specific with foil.

You can get used to almost anything if you do it enough.

My toes are out 365 days/year. I love pedicures. No art on my toes though.

If your toes were out 365 days a year here, you wouldn't need to paint them. They'd naturally turn blue on days like today!

My wife doesn't wear makeup (and neither do I!) so not much nail painting going on here.

Very creative.

You could tell your students you're secretly a Marvel character. :p Sorry to hear about that, though. Since this thread is mainly for women, I suppose the coffee lovers can do some latte art on their nails or draw tiny coffee beans.

I had been doing SNS but then the place I go to hasn’t been doing it as well lately. It is peeling up too easily. I went to a different place and just had gel done. This is the manicure I had done last week.

Ooooo - lovely! I know a lot of people who do glossy on 4/5 nails and sparkly on the 5th. This is a great look.

You'd be surprised at the little imagination they have when it comes to nails. They are forever ooohing and ahing at mine. Actually, anyone over 6 now has little imagination.
You mean to tell me they haven't come up with a two word, ten character combination that would make a preacher blush and possibly a dotard blow his top off?
