Someone use his/her iPad Pro 2018/2020 naked? What stand do you use? Maybe something foldable? I’m really missing smart cover like the one for my previous iPad Air 2, that left the back naked but made things easy for watch movies or series.

I also miss the smart cover, the folio case for the 12.9" weighs 240g.

I find it is much less convenient/natural/easy to remove the folio cover when using the iPad as a tablet on the couch. My tendency is not to remove it, the knock on is I tend to use it less as a tablet.

I have had gen 1 , 2 & 3 12.9" thinking of going to the 11" next time for weight, iPad & folio ( 175g ) similar to a naked 12.9.

Also aspect ratio, I have always found watching movies distracting on the gen 3 compared to gen 1 & 2 due to the 4:3 overall device design of the gen 3.

What kind of stand are you looking for? Desk, bedside, portable, etc.

To give you an example. I have one of these compass stands for about a decade already that you can put most tablets on. Very simplistic but ok for some uses.

I have the iPad Pro 11" 2018. I always use it without a cover/case, unless I'm using it with its Smart Keyboard Folio to do work, email, etc. Depending on how I'm using it, I'll use it with or without a stand. I'll use the Smart Keyboard Folio as its stand if I'm at my desk or the kitchen table, but if I'm in bed or on the couch I use something called a "Pillow Pad"--it's a triangular soft tablet stand with three angles to choose from, very comfortable to use for long periods of time. Or I'll just hold the iPad by itself while I'm using it.

I've tried so many various kinds of iPad covers and cases over the years (I've had almost all the iPads since the very first generation) and I've found that I just like using my iPad all by itself, with zero added bulk, and only using a stand (the keyboard folio that I can quickly and easily detach it from, or the Pillow Pad) when necessary.

I bought recently a leather folio for A4 notebook. My idea is to use one pocket for iPP and the other one for the logitech bluethooth keyboard. With the keyboard I suppose I can store a foldable stand that I can use at work when I am at desk and I want to write with the keyboard. At the same time a pillow-pad could be an idea for when I am in bed for watching movies and series.

I use my 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 naked any time I use it as a tablet. I have the Magic Keyboard that sits on my desk in my home office. I pull the iPad off when I use it around the house. Due to the size of the iPad, naked makes it more manageable to hold as adding any case or folio adds weight. I've been thinking about picking up an Air 4 with Apple Smart Folio for around the house tablet use and note taking. I can then leave my 12.9 always on my desk in my office. Still undecided though.

Most of my iPad 11 Pro reading is done in a specific reading chair I have from Ikea - where I can prop my legs up and be a little reclined. I usually have a massive body pillow on my lap to prop up the iPad to eye level then use my hands to keep the iPad upright. I find using the iPad without the folio case results in my hands being able to hold the iPad for hours longer (not as heavy) before becoming fatigued.

I do a lot of reading (many hours (6 is most) at a time sometimes).

I stands like these at several places (work, kitchen table, home desk) - Amazon.com: Amazon Basics Multi-Angle Portable Stand for iPad Tablet, E-reader and Phone - Silver: Computers & Accessories

I use my iPads naked only in portrait mode, that is mainly while reading. For browsing and watching videos I always have a smart keyboard (11 pro and 12.9) or, alternatively, a smart cover (12.9 pro) and therefore always have it in landscape mode. The covers/keyboards, while making it heavier, help me holding it better (in addition to acting like a stand). One of the reasons I have not moved to a more recent 12.9 pro (I have the first gen) is the that both the smart folio and keyboard are heavier and their weight more than offsets the fact the the iPad pro 12.9 itself is lighter (the iPad pro is around 90 grams lighter while those accessories are around 100 g heavier so I would end up with more or less the same weight...).
Otherwise I have recently equipped every room of my house with tablet stands so that when I have it naked I can put it down, expecially if I am using text to speach to read.

I got the Magic Keyboard, so it's not totally naked. But when I take my 12.9 iPad Pro off from the keyboard, I do worry about bumping it here and there. But I don't want to wear a case to protect the tablet and have to remove it when I need the Magic Keyboard. I guess I just need to be careful with it.

Smart folio for transportation and storage, but I always use it naked except when I need to prop it up, then it stay in the folio.

Totally naked with the new iPad Air 4. It hasn't left the house though like the old iPad did. Just not needing it "on the road" yet. I'd be rather nervous though if I took the Air 4 out of the house right now.

I have no kickstand solution yet. Just propping up against whatever's handy.

I was using an original iPad Pro with Logitech's Combo Touch Keyboard. That one was great, because it covered the whole iPad, had a kickstand, and the keyboard was detachable.

Now, I'm using an iPad Air 4 with the Magic Keyboard, and it feels weird to have no protection on the iPad. I'm considering getting a dbrand skin just to protect the back from scratches.

I have the Apple case on my 11 in pro and I often take it out for regular use like reading in bed or playing games. I do like using the Apple magnetic case to protect it when not in use and when I need to prop it up on a table.

I like making thing, even little things, so for my iPad Pro 2018 (and iPhone) I’ve got a sleeve case made from an old scarf for when I carry it around, but it’s naked in use. For a stand, I use an egg box. When cut correctly, I have both a stand to keep it upright, and a stand for more flat use.

mostly naked. I use the folio if out and about but Ipad lives at home for the majority of time so is not often I attach the smart folio. I hate the extra weight (12.9) and also dislike how the folio edges feel when holding at corners. Kinda irritates my palms

I use mine naked except when typing (Magic Keyboard) or transporting. The Magic Keyboard makes for a good traveling case which I then put into a heavily protected travel sleeve.

You just set it there on the table without any form of protection on its back?

If I am going to be mobile in the house, work, or elsewhere, I will use the Smart Cover a lot of the time, if I don't have need of my Magic Keyboard at that moment. If I don't have the Smart Cover on, I am very, very carful where I place my iPad Pro. Happy to say, it still looks brand new.

Same here. I started off with folio case indoors but now its naked indoors and case when out. Without case it's thin enough and light enough to handle. With case, for me it's not as handy for home use.
