As long as you can handle the fact that it will get nicks and scratches on it over a couple years, it is perfectly capable of handling the world naked. Mine is naked right now while I wait for my grove case to come in, it's fine.

More like a couple of weeks in my experience. Mine got a small silvery ding at the back near the corner. It's small, but it's shiny.

I finally put a case on it - to hide the shiny ding.

I really want my iPhone 5 to be naked, it looks so much nicer and it takes advantage of the actual weight of the phone. Anyone who has no case and is completely fine with it?

I keep mine in a pouch, sena case, or I use the speck candy shell or otterbox. I also rotate it with no case. But I do have full body ghost armor on it so it will not scratch. It's usually caseless when I'm at home. In the real world, the phone is in a case.

Besides, many iPhone 5 owners choose to go without a case because they want to show off to others that they have upgraded. Some are really focused on that. I have big hands, the 5 feels better in a case for me. If you go without a case, you will scratch it. At some point the phone will be dropped and you will hate the way it will look afterwards. I prefer a case.

Thats one area I liked the iPhone 4 better - I only needed to put a screen cover on both sides and it was good as naked.

With the 5, I was very conflicted. It is so beautiful I did not want to cover it up. I did find a good solution with a 0.3MM thin black cover by Ozaki. It hardly looks like a case and it gives some extra protection in the event of a drop.

I agree, the phone is great naked! I still use a case though. Waiting on the Lifeproof for the 5 now. Had one on my 4S the whole time I had it. Right now I am using a STM Case and a screen protector.

Main reasons for me to use a case are:
- Got full trade value at Amazon for having a perfect trade in with my 4S (that had been in a Lifeproof case), $395.
- I am careful with my phone, but accidents do happen, and the case will help protect from any dents, scrapes, scuffs from an accidental drop.
- Case or no case, the phone still functions the same, so the case is there to keep it looking good for trade in when the 6 (or 5S) comes out)

Just my reasoning behind using a case.

My sentiment exactly.

Not really. I've had every iteration naked, but keep a sleeve type cover for pockets/travel. Never had a scratch on any of them. Not one.

Love the iPhone 5 form. Can't bear to keep it in a permanent case. Just get a sleeve for when you are on the move/pockets.

Do you prefer the look of the iPhone 5 bare or in a case?

For me I love it better bare, don't want Sir Jony getting mad at me now lol
(bows down) I'm sorry Jony I'll never put that terrible ghost armor on again.
But with the cases out now I just don't like them. I really like the two tone design better, I'm not a huge fan of plain color cases.

I like it with no case but it wouldn't last me a day so it lives in a Defender case. Did you know that Defender now makes 2 tone cases in several colors?

I've rocked the 5 on and off naked. Currently I'm using it naked.

I have 5 cases and 1 bumper and still not satisfied. I did the same dance with my 4s and in the end rocked it with a bumper.

But this time around. Anything I put on the 5 only lasts a day until I take it off. I just like it better naked.

I also prefer the iPhone 5 pure. My workaround is to use a nice sleeve while carrying it around.

Are u 5 years old?

Not even a day really? I have gone years without a case

Well considering I do maintenance work, HVAC and electrical for a living I find myself in some bad places every day plus I'm a Fire Fighter/Rescue Tech so I demand a lot from my case and so far the defender hasn't failed me. If I had a desk job or other type of work I wouldn't need a case at all.

I use it only with a bumper. So its back & front are fully exposed. At the end of day, I plan to keep this iPhone for 18+ months, if it scratches, it scratches.

I definitely take care of my iPhone, but if it's a nick/scratch, I won't dwell.

Bestskinsever on front and back!
When i go out clubbing i put a case because i get so drunk and always drop the damn thing!

no case but with front and back protector...

though FYI, and maybe all are aware, the metal bands are really easy to get stratch. Take it in and out of your pocket of slightly tight jeans or put it in the cup holder in your car while driving will scratch it.

I already have a few scratches around the metal bands...not worried about it but others should use case if they don't want scratches...

You have to understand that many people have soft uncallused hands and spend their days in coffeeshops. They don't know that people who have iphones often spend their days in rough environments. I keep mine in a cse while working on motorcycles.

The phone looks and feels fantastic. You cover all that up with a clunky case and you lose all that. If you're not terribly clumsy don't worry, just be careful with it! I've had every iPhone save for the 4S and haven't had any major scratches on any of them or dropped any on hard surfaces.

+1 for naked iPhone 5 with pouch. In my case, I got one of these cheapies.

I love my naked iPhone 5 but alas I finally dropped it last night on concrete. Sounded a lot worse that it ended up being. Scratches on the antenna portion and bezel. Screen somehow did not even get a scratch on it. Oh well. Still not going to use a case. Having AppleCare+ doesn't hurt either.

I just do a full body film on every iPhone I have had, no scratches and you can't tell film is on it except the front. I put the anti glare on the back and love it, it actually make the back look and feel great. I have regular on the screen, it's a white iPhone 5.

I'm a firm believer in using a case and screen protector. here's why:

Iphone 4s 64GB bought for $399.
Traded in for $380.
Iphone 5 cost me $19, essentially.

There's no way you could get a "like new" trade in deal from a barebacked iphone.

Totally worth it to me to keep it in a case.
