Read every thread waiting in anticipation for @eyoungren 's post and didn't find one. This won't be an awesome Naked iPhone thread without a post from eyoungren.

I've spent HUNDREDS of dollars on cases and I've hated them all. I was a HUGE naked proponent from day 1 of owning a cellphone back in high school (late 90s). The iPhone 6+ was the first phone I felt like I needed a case because it was too slippery but users like @eyoungren give me hope that one day I will have the courage to go naked just like them.
I was staying out of the thread simply because…well…just how many times do people want to hear me say "I hate cases!"? :D

I've never seen your take so please do tell lol.
OK. I hate cases.

I buy phones because I like how they look. We (my wife and I) live with our phones for 2.5 to 3.5 years and we don't sell them when done with them (they move down as media devices).

So for that amount of time I want to LIKE what it is I am looking at every day. Cases get in the way of that. Since even basic flip phones will do what my usage requires (calls, email, text, picture mail and light web/social browsing) features are secondary to me.

You learn to be careful both in handling and where you put your phone down (and how). Except for specific instances (such as taking pics for threads like this) I do NOT place my phone face down. If something is going to scratch I'd rather it be the back of the phone and not my screen.

Been a year in with this phone so far…

I never use a case, because i don't see a point in buying a beautiful phone and not being able to feel it and appreciate it. I dropped a phone probably twice in my life and that was 15 or so years ago. I also am not careless and don't shuffle my phone with keys, coins and pocket sand, but at the same time i'm not carrying it on a silk pillow.

I long for an iPhone I can use naked confidently. Really it seems to be getting worse.

iPhone 4 - needed bumper to get reception
iPhone 4s - seemed to be ok naked
iPhone 5 - scratchgate nightmare
iPhone 5s - seemed ok naked, chamfered edges didn't hold up well
iPhone 6 - slippery as hell, almost too light without case
iPhone 6s - revised aluminium seemed to make it more grippy
iPhone SE - actually the best so far

and now....

my iPhone 7 jet black is more grippy but there are scratches even though its been wrapped up in a genuine Apple leather case. Matte Black would be the answer but its SO slippery....

When will we get a phone that works without a case .....or do you think that given the case business is big business - especially for Apple now - that they are actually engineered with a case in mind?!
They definitely are engineered with a case in mind and Apple even admitted to this when designing the jet black! And let's not forget Apple also sells plenty of cases from all types of manufacturers in their stores including a line of their own!
