I tried to go naked with my iPhone 8. It was fine for a while but eventually I dropped it enough to crack the screen. Oops. I was decently durable though I have to admit. It feels nice out of the case but it is slippery and eventually the drops got to it. Planning to go to the Apple store early tomorrow to try to get it fixed.

it’s not as slippery as aluminum but still prone to slippage. Definitely nice to handle it caseless.

We all have different situations. I use my iPhone without a case all the time, but I find the glass backing to actually have fairly good contact with the hand with the grip. However, I found the aluminum used on the iPhone 7 for the matte black model to be fairly slippery.

I like the feel of the glass back, and it is not slippery to hold. The issue with it for me is when laying it down on a hard surface such as glass or granite. Never an issue with cracking, but it sounds like you should be careful, and I end up taking pains to lay it down gently on such a surface. Found a good compromise by using a thin transparent soft case from ESR. Still see all the beauty of the "silver" case but it provides some padding for hard surfaces, both on the back and front of the phone. Very happy with it.

Same. I found the 8+ to have much better grip than my 6s+. I just don't have the .... the... <insert whatever you want here> to use the phone nekkid so I got a case for it.

However, funny enough, today, I took it out of the case and used it for half a day without the case. Found that I had to overcome my fear of putting fingerprints on the glass for it to be usable because if I tried to grip the phone via the sides, it would slide out of my hands. Once I did that, it was fairly usable nekkid.

I am getting tired of my wallet case and have a super thin https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GIWF4EK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 coming in the mail tomorrow. After having used my Wallet Case from the 6+, 6s+, and 8+ ... I'm conflicted and going back and forth.

Go caseless? I've dropped my phone a few times - I don't think I can :(. I want to though.

To the Op: If I did go caseless, I'd have to really slow down my lifestyle and carry around a felt rag to lay it down on whenever I went out and about.

That's good case choice. Which color of 8 Plus do you got?

Sometimes I think the problem with phones is that they are too large and they just don’t comfortably fit in one hand and is a reason others drop them. With a smaller phones like the SE, that was a phone that I never dropped because I had a firm grip on it because it was smaller. But the aluminum also is another contributing factor to why they can be slippery one-handed without a case.
