This 90s game was like a 3D version of Breakout. The game screen looked like the inside of a rectangular tunnel. Inside the tunnel were rows and columns of 3D blocks that were several layers deep. When you paddled the ball and hit one of the blocks, that block vanished. Then the ball either returned to you, or if there were other blocks within it's path, the ball ricocheted against those blocks and vanished them, before it eventually returned back to you.

The game had several levels. The shapes and sizes of the blocks would change with each level as well as how they were configured within the rectangular tunnel. The game forced you to mentally calculate the angles of trajectory within the tunnel, in order to keep the ball in play.

You could try asking at the Macintosh Garden (google it). I know the game you're thinking of, but I can't remember the name either, all that comes into my head is 3Tris or FRAC - 3D tetris games similar to that you described.
