I had someone speak of a book regarding the universe coming to an end, and as society re-evolves, the only document left from the past civilization is this guy's grocery list, which they base their society after. Gracias

A simple Google search brought up a Walter M Miller Jr book entitled "A Canticle for Leibowitz" which seems to fit the bill.

Library: Large central building-based server for mainly paper based file sharing. Usually serves a metroplitan area network, often with local sub-servers called "branches" distributed at traffic-based nodes in the metropolitan network.
Load-manages by assigning limited lease periods on limited numbers of documents to specific users.

I've actually ordered it at my local library already... the one copy they had was out, but I'm next in line to get it... :)
