I have 2 contacts for myself: my default contact is the kitchen sink version - has several email accounts, socials, home and work addresses, etc. The other is intended for sharing and only includes my phone number and one email account - no addresses or other accounts.

Is there a way to designate that stripped down version as the default contact for sharing?

How is it being aggressive? I've had to opt out just once and it never bugged me again...

It's bugged me to a few times (2 times this past week) on a friend's message to "Update contact to TONY SHAPO" with his custom Memoji. Not sure what triggers it. If it just did it once, it would be fine.

Odd, don't think has ever happened to me. If it did — it would totally bug the crap out of me though, so I feel your pain.

I’m pretty sure apple said this would work with the watch during the keynote.

Welp. Nevermind…

I’m surprised how little utilization that chip has gotten, it seems like it would give them a lot more use cases than what we have seen.
Yeah, it would be awesome if they used it more. Things like Precision Finding to find an iPhone or Watch, or doing HomePod style AirPlay handoff by, say, holding your watch near the Apple TV.

So how does this work. Do I get close to someone else’s watch and it gives we their number. You don’t have to press anything?

This feels like an age-related feature. Young people will love this. Old people will never use this. As they will never get booped again. My God, life is hard but so are you. Unless you’re old and your bones are brittle and the harsh reality of life will crush them into powder. Anyway, this post turned pretty dark, pretty fast. Love this new feature. Boop! And please drink milk, it’s good for your bones.

Honestly I like Apple approach on this function. Call me lazy, but I hate to type numbers and wasting 10 seconds of my time entering someone's contact number. No thanks. Also, bonus point for no touching feature.

Oh, and remember, just because the code was found does not mean the feature will be implemented. We just recently found out that HomePods have always had internal temperature and humidity sensors but their function was turned off until a recent update.

The PalmPilot had this 25 years ago via infrared. They called it Beaming.

In 1998, my Palm Pilot was able to "beam" (share) my vcard between other Palm devices...only took Apple 25 years to figure this out...*sigh*!
Loved my old Palm Pilots! I use CloudPilot pinned to my Home Screen to emulate an old Palm so I can still use my favorite apps.

The reason why you don’t get seemingly obvious features often has little to do with technical ability. Welcome to the world of patents and royalties, 90% of the time that determines what features you get on your phone above all else. what changed? It’s hard to say. This aspect of the business is usually not disclosed to the public. My guess is that Apple has been unwilling to pay whatever royalties demanded for that feature until now.
