I've got a few smart bulbs and two of them were put into a single light fixture. I've ended up naming them "Bulb 1" and "Bulb 2", and putting them into a group called "Ceiling Light". The third bulb went into a lamp, called "Lamp". All these are in my bedroom in the Home app.

I'm not exactly a fan of calling them "Bulb 1" and "Bulb 2". What if I get more lights to put in another room...do I call call them "Bulb 3" and "Bulb 4", and then put them in a group also named "Ceiling Light"? (I suppose I could include the room name for the devices, but that seems redundant since they are already organized by room.)

I am probably overthinking this, but curious if any of you guys have any sort of naming convention you like to follow for devices that are the same.

I name the bulbs something like Bedroom Ceiling 1 and Bedroom Ceiling 2, then group them to Bedroom Ceiling, etc.

If you name a specific bulb, or any device, starting with the room name, the room name will drop off when you view it in the room in the home app.
However, Siri will recognize it if you call it by its full name. If you’re in the room you’re controlling, don’t need to call by its full name. I name all my devices starting with the room it’s in. If you’re controlling a device from the same room the device is in, just call it “Main Lights.” If you’re controlling a device from a room other than that device is in, call it “Kitchen Main Lights” See pics below.
