i was wondering if i can give it a different name when i add the device to my developer's license

their current devices have names like "matthew's iPad" or "iPad"

i want to give it a different name according to company name so i can easily manage these devices.

like JCPenny01 for example.

i believe its fine, but i dont want to just do it and have it not work since theres a co-worker at the other side of the coast thats waiting, just trying to avoid the back and forth nonsense

The name you put in Xcode is purely for your bookkeeping. It is not visible to the user running the device, and is independent of the name the user gives to his/her device when setting it up in iTunes. Name it whatever makes sense to you.
