iPod nano sometimes needs to be reset

I have a 2 gig Nano, and whenever it sits out of my dock for a day or so and is unused, I need to reset it to turn it on. Just hitting play does nothing. is this normal behavior? thanks

that's relatively common behavior for 4th gen iPods without power or use for a couple of days, but on the dock means it has power...so i don't know
