They had only 2, an M4 Pro one that was super high (48GB, 2TB) and the one I got which is M4, 1TB, 16GB

I just tried them in the Apple Store.
14” nano-texture vs 16” glossy
The nano-texture looks nano-dirty when looking close, not as sharp, and just “sadder”. Smudges are still as visible, in the particular units there were a few more than in the glossy screen.
However, not sure if because of manufacturing differences/brand between 14” and 16” or for the nano-texture itself, but the viewing angles were better in the 14 inch (nano) than in the 16”.
I think 99.99% I’ll go glossy.
I mostly use the laptop to edit pictures and I’ll get OCD when checking details up close and the screen looks permanently nano-dirty, with light being reflected in all directions and not being as sharp and contrasty.

The nano is available for pickup today for some models in the US, and maybe elsewhere. And I'm sure it's on display everywhere. Certainly is interesting.

My take is that if you want to use your laptop outside a lot, get the nano-texture. If you want display clarity and color accuracy (and work in doors) get the glossy. I would be interested to know more about the durability of the nano-texture, but there is no way to know about that issue at this point.

Ordered a 14” Pro 48GB/2TB with nano for pickup today in NC. Yay instant gratification!
This is how I felt when I looked at the nano-XDR. It looked too unclear for me. Is the nano MBP similary to the nano-XDR in this regard?

The Apple Stores in the Bay Area have often had a few nanotexture displays around of different products (going back to 2021 at least), although you may not be guaranteed to have it on the product you're looking for (I don't think I've seen a store with two XDRs yet).
From my observations, it's looked pretty similar on the XDR, Studio Display, and iMacs (both current one and the old 27" Intel -- it's been around longer than people remember!), with the tradeoffs people note above about text clarity and color vibrancy. I think it looks a bit better on the new iPad Pros? But it might just be wishful thinking, because the upside of eliminating reflections is so much higher on something so portable as a tablet, I want it to be true.

On this- the Apple Store lighting conditions do the nano texture display no favours. This was also my experience when viewed the nano texture iPad Pro at the Apple Store on release - I loathed it and actually wrote a post about how terrible it was. I bought the glossy one.
Later I actually got to use a nano texture iPad Pro in the wild and immediately returned my glossy display for the nano, and have never looked back! As soon as I heard the nano texture was available for the M4 MBP, I ordered one.

I just saw the Nano-texture displays today at the Apple store, they really look good. To the casual eye in a store, they looked as bright/sharp/colorful as the regular display. My worry, and why I probably won't buy a nano-Mac, is that you have to use the Mac cloth only, and can't just use a slightly dampened micro-fiber cloth to clean it - warnings all around that this can scratch it. I clean with a dampened micro-fiber cloth every evening when I am done to keep the display looking nice, and I have never had a problem. To have to use only the Apple cloth, and no water, that's too high maintenance when the normal display is very good as well.

I do the same regarding microfiber. That would be very annoying to be limited to a special cloth and etc etc.

That was one of my concerns as well, just how 'easy to live with' the new display coating would be, particularly in the longer term once I was past my pedantic new toy phase and was just daily driving it.
In Hong Kong Apple Store I visited, no warnings around at all, no one explained about this, no microfiber around, all chilled. It was not even mentioned about the nano-texture, I was looking for it myself but all was very random and there was only this model with the feature…

Saw the nano and glossy side by side today and was super impressed by the nano. Obviously the Apple store has a lot of bright lighting, which may not be typical for daily use by many people, but man that nano screen looked so sharp. Saw no difference in sharpness to the glossy screen side by side.
Very happy with my decision to cancel my glossy preorder and wait a few more days for a nano.

I purchased a 14 Michelin MBP with the nano texture display and it is the best matte screen I have ever used in my life. Wow. It really is that good. I will never go back to a glossy screen on a laptop compute ever again. With that said I do wish that one could just choose between the two screen types without paying for an upgrade. Oh well.

I've been pretty happy with the Moshi iVisor Anti-Glare screen protectors; they can be removed and put back on quite easily. And they are only $37. Think I'll stick with those.
With the recent iPad Pro, I compared the glossy v. the nano texture, and went with the glossy on the iPad Pro. The text appeared sharper with the glossy on the iPad Pro. With the MBP, I couldn't really see a difference. It's as if the nano texture on the MBP is better than on the iPad Pro. I ended up cancelling the glossy order and just ordered the nano texture (and waiting an extra week).

Here's a photo of the nano display on my 16" Macbook. Also, the left studio display is nano, while the right is glossy for comparison. I have a really bright white desk lamp off to the left. I'm glad I went with the nano.

Yeah even I walked into the apple store and my eyes gravitated towards the nano display. It was very sharp still on the 16" model despite people warning me there is a 'loss in contrast' it still looked fine
