Had an amazing few years with my MBP M1 ☺️, and now it's time to go for maxed out M5 Max. What's tripping me up is the nano texture option. I've always used a high quality matte screen protector (and hard case), as I tend to travel a lot. This guy is not always as careful as I should be with cleaning and maintenance and handling.

I do love my etched coating on the Samsung TV's although ofc that's stationary. I was wondering if anyone had experience with both nano texture and a matte screen protector and had similar considerations!

Thanks

Had it for over a year now with the M4 pro. Holds up great and does what it’s meant to. So it all just depends on if matte screens are your preference

I agree with the above sentiments. My second machine is a ThinkPad X1C6 and I am very used to a matte screen, which is why when I bought the MBP M4, I defaulted to the nano-tex screen. I love it. Even my phone (Oppo Find N5) has a "somewhat" matte inside/larger screen (which is very different from the Samsung Fold 5, which I had earlier). I really appreciate the comforts of the matte screen.

I have a M4 Pro Base with Nanotexture screen. I do like it but it really depends on where/how you use the laptop. I do tend to use it cafe's with large windows, and obviously it works well there. If most of your work is indoors away from windows, I'm not sure how much benefit it provides.

Thanks everyone. This is exactly what I needed to pull the trigger.. was a bit worried about the maintenance horror stories. So it seems like we can put just a put a little more effort into that and have a better glare free experience!

Reflections kill my productivity and mood big time. (So does maintenance and unnecessary fussing, though less so)

The Macs with Nano-texture displays will comes with the Apple cloth to keep them clean - it is advised to not use microfiber cloths on those screens. I have had zero issues with my MBP over the last year, and the nano texture does not flake off or wear away from the display despite my using it almost every single day.

Great to know. Seem like some regular quick wipes with the Apple cloth occasionally and ensuring keyboard clean would be a small concession 🙂
