Just an update... I have returned to the Napster site to see if this video has begun to offend me yet......

Nope, still not offended.

I will return to view the video again in an hour or so and post another update...

Didn't offend me. The girl was blazing hot.

I'd rather see a nice peepshow than men on rollerskates. But that's just me. I AM the lowest common denominator. How about a 45 second preview next time? :D

Right on. We'll show them. BOOBIES!

The girl doesn't bother me either it's just the advertisement that does. She is hot but I can go to a titty bar to get teased for 5 bucks by a real women.

Thanx Howard, you just proved my point.

Does a sexy girl on a mac desktop make the computer tasteless?

Is it wrong to be sexy, or demeaning?
I dare you to go up to a girl and say, "your not sexy, and i like that because to much sexiness just gets old and tasteless anyway"

but more to your point, is it wrong to sell sexiness??...(the masses clearly want it) The ad doesn't make me want to use napster, but it does make me want to see the ad again and again, which will get me more exposed to napster.

A lot of people are disgusted girls like britney spears, jessica simpson, etc. cause they sell sex. But these people don't get as disgusted with strippers because its there job. Why not just think of britney and jessica as female dancers, they just give you there "product" in a different medium.

...just a few thoughts

If the product wasn't art and instead some porn site maybe I would. The problem is the product that it advertises.

I don't complain about ads that sell sex, because whatever works in advertisment works. Sure some will be offended, but if the majortity of people are no offended and it works, then so be it. I found the ad the be very sexy, but you won't see me rushing to use napster because of it.

clever idea, good execution (except for the bit about it not working across browser platforms). nonetheless, i'd be surprised if anyone already invested in the itunes or other similar platform would switch to napster's subscription fee plus per-download pricing modeled product on the basis of wanting more than a 30 second preview of selections in the "store". don't most people shopping for music already have enough of an idea of the songs/artists they're interested in to make more than 30 seconds' worth of preview playback superfluous anyway? (i'm using my old-fashioned still-buys-vinyl-and-CDs-in-record-shops purchasing habits as my basis here; i'd love to hear how wrong i am!)...

Y'know, I've been seeing this ad on and off for about a week during various lessons, and I'm still not offended.

vixapphire, I can't disagree with you on this. There are just better sites for downloads. ibook30, that would be fricken halarious.

But can you load the ad onto a video ipod ???? ( now that would be funny, if napster made their ads available for ipod users ....)
no, not in its current form, it's a flash file. however you could convert it, probably wouldn't be to hard.

Yeah, Im sure an ad like that is going to make me buy music from Napster.

Wait a second..What..the..hell? My hand, its just, clicking and buying. It wont stop!

Damn hormones.

The ad was somewhat clever but there are 2 basic problems with using sex in a ad. One, most women are turned off by it, some will even refuse to buy the product because of it. Two, men respond to sex in an ad but very often they focus only on the sex and completely miss the product sell. Many ads use sex but do not tie the product to it, it ends up being a total waste of money. This one was somewhat clever but I don't think it's going to help Napster very much.

This makes me feel something... but it doesn't make me want to use Napster. BuyMusic.com tried this type of thing. I don't think it worked so well.

godaddy's superbowl ad hasn't seemed to take them anywhere. At least Napster's song doesn't stay in your head like the cursed Vonage ad.

How far will ads like this go in the future. I love sex but this makes it dirty and meaningless. www.napstergirl.com
I agree that it is a blatant attempt in gathering male consumer attention using "Sex Sells" . Using sex in an ad can be very powerful when used in a sophisticated manner, but this is not sophisticated. The ad is cheap and tawdry.
It is clear that Napster is grasping at straws here, in an attempt to stay afloat.
This is is an act of sheer deperation.

Does anyone remember the Corel ads, a few years ago? Same thing. Corel launched an ad campaign using very graphic sexual images, the photos were very professional and very erotic, and def. grabbed attention. But Corel later admitted that the ad campaign was a desperate attempt at trying to get more market share, user base, all due to slumping sales and poor revenue.

My suggestion for these companies and any other companies that use want to use sex innapropriately in ad campaigns. How about you re-look at your product and/or service(s), improve on it, release it, and impress by what your company can actually offer its customers. If you try and mask the same ol crap, in a veil of T&A, you might be able to snagg a few more people in, but they will soon discover that it is the same ol garbage that you have always have had, they will feel betrayed and used, humiliated by the fact that they were duped by some cheap T&A. They will leave you in spite, for your competition that really has something to offer.

Has anyone REALLY moved to Corel applications from Adobe applications, after seeing these ads. Ya, didnt think so.

It's just that its porn, or whether it is or not, it's the fact that they picked an absolute knockout girl for the ad, and the strip was done far more sexily that other ads have....

You can't take the view that every ad with partial sexual nudity is gonna be taken the same way, because some ads will always have that certain something that sets them ahead....

Ok... yeah... nice, but was anyone turned off my the dirty crappy room? I know I have problems.
