almost 300 "extra" songs!

Darn -- with DRM allowing each song to be on 3 computers, that's enough to give all the Senators, all the Representatives, all the state governors, attorneys general, and secretaries of state, each delegate to the United Nations, and President Bush and his Security Council a copy of "Making Love Out of Nothing at All" by Air Supply. :D

I was under the impression that the 30 seconds of the song was a favor Apple did so that I knew I was getting the song I thought I was, not so that I could actually enjoy the song. Since it is free, and not 9.95/month.

iTunes still provides lots of free online radio stations, though. I'd rather listen to those than pay $10 a month for a stream. It's like someone saying I have to pay $10 a month to license my cloths from a particular store when I can just buy them from the one across the street. I'd rather just pay the $15 for the shirt and keep it than having to pay $10 every month to wear a dozen of them.

And you're not even limited to those listed in iTunes. You can find dozens (if not hundreds) more radio stations on the net that will play through iTunes. (Or any other streaming mp3 capable player)
