Hi, I have a D-link DSL router which supports NAS. I thought of using an external drive plugged into the router to backup my computer. But can I be sure the no one else can access the NAS drive through internet? What are the steps I can take to increase the security of the contents in the NAS drive?

You could encrypt them, but if they're so valuable that you can't have them compromised then don't put them on the internet.
