Hello,

I have a QNAP NAS TVS-882ST3 with the latest firmware v.5.1.9.2954 connected via ethernet to my router and directly connected via thunderbolt 3 from the NAS to my Mac Mini (2024).

I'm having issues with keeping my shares mounted using TB, sometimes they mount correctly and sometimes they mount and after certain time the shares disconnect randomly, this happens using SMB or AFP.

I have read some articles that Sequoia had some problems with NAS connections, my Mac Mini is updated to v15.1.1 and the firewall is set to off in my settings.

Any Ideas? the screenshot below is how it shows when connected and mounted via qfinder, also you can see that the share is mounted in my desktop...

BTW;
The mac mini has TB5 ports which I believe are backwards compatible.

Regards
Jesus H.

Forgot to mention;

My power setting is set to high, Computer sleep disabled, HD sleep disabled, screen sleep after 10 mins.

I have noticed that when the NAS is being used (so in my case it is for media streaming) the connection doesn’t drop, it has something to do when the computer is idle even though all my settings are not set to sleep.

I found a solution that is working for now:

The NAS and the Mac (Thunderbolt Bridge) had automatic DHCP settings assigning IP addresses outside of my local network range.

So the NAS had automatically assigned 169.254.8.133 and the mac (thunderbolt bridge) had 169.254.8.130 and my local network (router) 192.168.100.1 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0

The way to fix it for me was to assign different static ip addresses to the NAS and the mac (thunderbolt bridge) in the same range as my local network, so: 192.168.100.X with a different subnet being 255.255.255.128 this fix the connection problems. Now everytime I login the NAS is available via thunderbolt and I no longer have SMB or AFP random disconnects.

I must point out that this happened only with OS 15.1.1 Sequoia.
