SpaceX uses 3 dual core x86 processors in their falcon 9 running Linux. That by itself can tell you it’s a much more recent CPU than the G3.
Great. Those boosters need to function in the atmosphere for five minutes and in space for potentially a few hours.

That's just not comparable to an interplanetary probe or a comm satellite with 20 year lifetime.

It's like arguing that your bicycle can get you to the corner store faster than driving and looking for parking, therefore you've proven that trucking companies are overspending on their rigs when a few bicycles would work. It's that absurd.
