"Natal" is now "Kinect"!

So I just read up a little on what happened at the Natal/Kinect press conference.
Basically:
- They had everyone put on white plastic ponchos. (Kool-aid, anyone?)
- They had a flying couch and a fake elephant.
- They showed some horrible casual games that had people jumping around their living rooms like spastic idiots.
- They assume that no one has coffee tables.
- They're releasing EyePet and Wii Sports.
- They invented Skype.
Wow, quite an event. I imagine this one will be talked about for quite awhile.
Now don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with Microsoft/Xbox in general. But this was just beyond ridiculous. Then again, I'm not really expecting Sony to do much better with "Move". A little, hopefully, but not much.

the most hilarious thing though is that the new slim 360 comes with a "Kinect - port" ... wh-h-what ? so the installed userbase of 30-40 millions is essentially worthless ?... seriously that's such a obvious ridiculous error ... yo ucan't make this **** up
and am i the only one who finds the similiarties between "Kinect" and the eye toy "Kinetics" game to be rather idotic ?
and 'Wii' was a stupid name first but at least it rolls of the tongue easily even in a german conversation ... Kinect .. not so much

Maybe it uses 2 USB sockets on a regular Xbox? I dunno. They cannot ignore the existing 360 userbase. That'd just be plain silly.
It is a power port. The new 360 has that port so you can just plug the Kinect camera into it alone. If you have an older 360, it will connect by USB, while needing a power connection to the wall. Kinect is compatible with every 360, new or old.
so they are shipping the Kinect with: a power cable, an usb cable and this Kinect port cable ?
why not simply ship it with power cable + usb and save on the manufacturing of an extra, special cable and designing a whole new connection port on the motherboard ? not to speak of confusion for customers
Save on cable and plug cutter. I'm all for that. I don't think it will be anymore confusing than having to plug in the sensor bar for the Wii.

I don't think anyone has seen exactly what the cable setup looks like.
LOL, confusion? Do you have an old 360? Plug it in to the wall, and use USB. Do you have a new one? You use the single "Kinect" cable? If that task is hard for someone, then I don't think ANY level of simplification will help them.
Microsoft Kinect what I want to see, lol.
I want a character that will greet you by your name, like , "hey there waloshin, how you doing?" You would respond and it would be interactive by saying something like, "thats cool. " It would also reconize the many human emotions, and facial expressions and would try to cheer you up or something if you look sad or depressed.

$150 is steep. This reveal is also surprising - I thought they weren't gonna disclose their pricing plans until fall?

I hope you know that the XBox has the highest attach rate (games per system) and it also sports 2 of the most blockbuster series ever. Here's the footage from the actual demo for you to judge for yourself rather than just spew your, OMG, this is soooo stooopid rants. I think some of you are jealous that you will be clobbered by all the tiny-teens that will play this...and litterally beat you to the ground!

The Wii Fit wast $100 and it was only for exercise...and they sold 22 million of them.
I don't think they really need anything really high rez to get the outline of your body. But maybe in a future version where it might recognize facial expressions like in some of those old demos...you'd either have to be close, or need a Kinect 2. And you gotta be pretty darn fast to make 30 fps not fast enough for some of these games I think. Unless you're like a karate master.
You haven't been around here very long, have you?
With time, you will learn that
a) the fanboyism level is generally very low here
and
b) most of the regulars own and enjoy multiple consoles.
Exceptions pop up now and then, but they usually don't last long. (We'll see how you do...

Again, nice bunch of assumptions there. It's actually a lot simpler than that: I PLAY VIDEO GAMES TO HAVE FUN. No more, no less.
