Native Union today debuted the Find It Card and the Find It Tag, two new products that work with Apple's Find My functionality.

Priced at $40, the Find It Card is meant to fit in a wallet, and it measures in at 1.7mm thick. For comparison's sake, a standard credit card is about 0.76mm, so Native Union's card is about two credit cards in thickness. There's a hole in the center where a metal keychain wire attaches, so it can also be attached to items like backpacks.

There is a rechargeable battery inside that can be charged using a MagSafe charger or a Qi-based charger, and the battery is able to last for up to six months.

The $20 Find It Tag is shaped like an AirTag, featuring a round body and a replaceable CR2032 battery that lasts for up to a year. The Find It Tag has an attached loop that can be added to a keychain or connected to other items for tracking purposes.

The Find It Card and Find It Tag are both compatible with the Find My app, and can be added to the Items tab to be tracked alongside Apple devices like the iPhone. All of the Find My features are included, and you can get notifications when an item is left behind or play a loud sound to locate an item that's close enough to detect over Bluetooth.

When an item is out of Bluetooth range, the Find It Card and Find It Tag can take advantage of the Find My Network, leveraging nearby Apple products to relay location information back to you.

The Find It Card and the Find It Tag can be purchased from the Native Union Website.

Every one like this so far has NOT supported the main feature—precision locating. I read the site, is not explicitly clear that it has it...I suspect that means it does not. Buyer beware.

I have tried 2 other substitutes—chipolo and another one. In both cases they worked like trash, and didn't support precision locating, which is essential in finding the tracker when your item is actually lost.

I really don't see the point of the tag, since it's the same size and basically the same price as an AirTag, but doesn't have the same functionality with precision finding. The card has some usefulness in that it fits better in a wallet than an AirTag could, but the lack of precision finding still makes me think I don't want it.

The website says the card supports precision tracking, yet I see posts above saying it does not?

Dear MacRumors Editorial team,

Firstly continue the great work! Love this place.

Secondly - please include Precision Finding (yay or nay) in all future third party “AirTag” reviews. Your forum has spoken.

Thirdly - please correct your article where it states “All of the Find My features are included”. This is not true as Precision Finding is a function offered in the Find My app and it is not included in this product.

Thank you.

From the card product page: "this is Apple Find My’s precision tracking in a credit card’s disguise"

The tag page says nothing like it, so I can only assume (for now) that card has precision tracking and the tag does not. Hence, perhaps, some confusion here.

Agree with @AndrewNZ that MacRumors should include this sort of info. It's an important part of the product.

Yes to number two. This is deja vu, I feel like I just read this article a few weeks ago, same thing happened. Says all find my features, turns out no precision finding.

I would have assumed the other way around, given how thin the card is. Yeah, we just need precision tracking specified since there's no standard to assume.

MR would never do this. They would lose the money that they get for placing these ads in editorial space. Rather, they just copy/paste the manufacturer's statement and accept payment for an ad that can't be blocked.

Native Union Paris? Cool, natives unite in Paris to defend their rights.
Err… no, wait a minute, that's something else.

I find it VERY strange, that every time a Find My product is mentioned here, there is NO mention of no U1 Precision Finding in the product.

Without it, the product is useless!

Also no mention of a v2 AirTag coming soon.
Yep. many brands have started this card-air-tag. There are several ones at maybe 10-20 USD.
Nevertheless, UWB is required

I have eufy, tile and AirTag and can find them all, which means that precision locating is not essential to finding the tracker. Maybe it’s very helpful, but not at all to me. I do find the AirTag the most reliable. Having no built in mechanism to connect it to a keychain or the like seems moronic. That immediately makes the AirTag by far the physically largest tracker, because you have to add a holder.

Professional malpractice if MacRumors doesn't clarify this as they get a fee from any purchases thanks to the referral link.

To my knowledge (and many searches) there are zero third party UWB equipped, precision-finding capable Find My devices. Unfortunately, you can only get AirTags (and a handful of other Apple products like AirPods Pro 2) if you want that.
In 2021 Apple said they were releasing a draft UWB specification for third party manufacturers but I haven't seen anything since then. Hopefully it ends up being opened up (unlike the Jobs-announced open FaceTime spec).

Strange that it was omitted from this "news" piece. It should absolutely be there.
